The SEN Department at SISOG

Inclusion is an essential part of building an engaging, supportive learning experience for all.

At SISOG, an inclusive learning environment is a foundational principle that guides our educational practice. The SEN (Special Educational Needs) Department plays a vital role in creating a school environment where every child is supported in order to thrive emotionally, socially and academically. Guided by the Swedish "red thread" approach, we believe that inclusion is not only for students with specific needs, but an essential part of building an engaging, supportive learning experience for all.

Our department works in close collaboration with teachers, support staff, and families to provide individualized support to foster holistic development. We focus on ensuring smooth transitions throughout the day, opportunities for self-expression and collaboration, and promoting academic progress tailored to each student's learning profile.

When needed, our team facilitates the implementation of Individual Educational Plans (IEPs) with realistic, achievable goals co-created by teachers and parents. In more specialized cases, such as when personal assistance is required, families are responsible for the associated financial costs.

Families considering SISOG for a child with identified educational needs are invited to schedule an initial meeting with our SEN coordinator. This helps us fully understand the child’s circumstances and determine how we can work together to provide the most effective support if possible. Every decision and action is made with the child’s best interests at heart, in line with our school values: equality, empathy, love of learning, community, and commitment.
