It's About Time: A Celebration of Music, Community, and Learning

At SISOG, time is more than just the ticking of a clock—it’s an opportunity to explore, create, and connect. This year’s annual winter musical, It’s About Time, brought this idea to life, uniting students, teachers, staff and parents in a shared experience that celebrated the many ways time shapes our lives.

A Journey Through Time

From our youngest learners at just one year old to our oldest primary students, everyone had a role in this extraordinary production. Together, we explored time in all its forms—clocks, time in music, time in technology (FaceTime, screentime), and even the history of timekeeping. Through syncopated rhythms, storytelling, and dynamic performances in three languages, It’s About Time showcased the diversity and richness of our school community.

Learning Beyond Music and Movement

This musical was more than just a performance—it was an immersive learning experience seamlessly woven into the curriculum. Throughout the process, students discovered all about time and timekeeping. The Upper Primary studied the artists behind the music, including the Swedish rock band Europe, while younger learners studied different types of clocks and danced to Leroy Anderson’s Syncopated Clock, gaining an introduction to syncopated rhythm. Violin students performed two pieces in 3/4 time, illustrating the crucial role time plays in music. The show also incorporated lessons on Geneva’s iconic landmarks, such as the famous flower clock, enriching students’ understanding of the city’s historical connection to timekeeping.

Honoring Geneva’s Heritage

Set against the backdrop of Geneva’s rich cultural and scientific contributions, It’s About Time paid tribute to the city’s world-renowned legacy in timekeeping. From the artistry of its Flower Clock to the iconic brands which call Geneva home, students engaged with Geneva’s heritage in a meaningful way, blending science, history, and art into their learning and performance.

A School-Wide Collaboration

One of the most powerful aspects of this production was the collaboration it inspired. Teachers, students, staff and parents worked side by side to create something truly special. Beyond the stage, It’s About Time was a testament to the strength of our school community. Parents played a key role in designing vibrant, thematic costumes that brought the production to life. Whether through costume design, party planning, or rehearsals, this musical proved what can be achieved when a community comes together with a shared vision.

A Celebration of Learning and Togetherness

More than just a performance, It’s About Time was a celebration of creativity, learning, and the moments that shape us. It embodied our commitment to holistic education and the power of shared experiences. As we look back on this remarkable production, we are reminded that time, when used to create, connect, and learn, is truly invaluable.

At SISOG, we eagerly anticipate the minutes, hours, and days ahead—each moment an opportunity to discover, grow, and create something extraordinary once again.
